Die Another Day

James Bond running around with Halle Berry.

I haven't watched the last couple James Bond movies because even though I think Pierce Brosnan makes a good James Bond, they have bored me. This one was pretty good though and I think it had to do with Halle Berry. Her character was actually interesting instead of other boring people in other ones.

This might be Pierce's last Bond movie though and there are rumors about Ewan McGregor or Jude Law doing it next. You all know who I would vote for but either one would be just fine indeedy.

I did fall asleep a few times but I was very tired that day and I needed a nap anyway. I took it during this movie!

I finally got around to seeing this movie a few weeks ago. I must say I thought it was the worst Bond movie I’ve ever seen. It was more sci-fi than action/spy movie, which I was very unprepared for. Pierce is finally showing his age…so I say bring on the new Bond.

BTW, my bookie says it’s 7-4 odds on Ewan McGregor for the next Bond. Jude Law is at 4-1

No way is this worse than the one with Denise Richards of all people as a nuclear scientist running around in a tank top. I couldn’t even finish watching that one.

I would be extremely happy with either Ewan McGregor or Jude Law as the next James Bond. But we all know who I really want. 🙂

Orlando Bloom as the next James Bond?

I don’t know how reliable this information is, but interesting none the less. I checked with my bookie, he’s got no line on Orlando yet. Jude Law and Antonio Banderas are currently the best odds at 10-1. Ewan McGregor has allegedly said he wouldn’t do a Bond picture, so there’s currently no line on him.

I don’t know if anyone else is as amused as me that you can bet on something like this.

I hope that he doesn’t be the next Bond. It just seems like falling into a hole.

But thanks for that link, that pic of him was HOT!

I agree that Orlando Bloom should stick with other stuff besides the James Bond line of movies. He actually picks good movies to be in unlike Jude Law and Ewan McGregor which do not always have the best taste in movie roles. If Ewan McGregor is not in the running any longer, then I think Jude Law would be the best James Bond.

Who should be the next James Bond? very good question. I also like Jude Law, or perhaps Antonio Banderas. Of course, I barely ever watch the James Bond movies, so going with who I like doesn’t really help them out.

My thinking is if they got someone hotter as James Bond, I would be willing to watch the movies more. Right now, I usually fall asleep halfway through any of the ones I have seen in the last few years.

Good point, more hotness would probably make me want to watch as well.

I’m an avid follower of this subject. At this point, it looks like Pierce Brosnan will be back for one more Bond film. This seems to change often though. The keepers of the Bond franchise are said to be looking at a major overhaul of the character. There’s tons of literature out there decrying who the next Bond will be.

Mel Gibson has been mentioned as a one-time only film deal. I declare this a bad idea. Why pull a big star in for one film and then go back to the proverbial drawing board? It sets up the subsequent pictures to fail miserably.

Ewan McGregor, once the frontrunner, now has apparently said he would not do a Bond film. He’d be my 2nd choice, for shizzle.

Christian Bale would be awesome. However, now that he’s taken over the Batman franchise, I doubt he’d be able to face up as two mega-franchise characters like that at the same time. Unless of course he only make the one Batman movie.

Hugh Jackman might be a good choice. He’s got that unassuming action hero air about him.

Colin Farell is an interesting pick. There’s just something not right about him as a gentleman spy though.

Tom Cruise and Ben Affleck are always rumored to end up in any caucasion helmed action franchise. To play James Bond though, the star has always kinda taken on the mantra of being exclusively recognized as James Bond during his tenure of making the films. I doubt either one of these guys is going to give up his 30 million a pop day job to take on this role.

Antonio Banderas is another name being tossed around. An interesting pick, but I think very unlikely. He’s at his best with long hair and a guitar case full of guns. That’s not very Bond-esque.

Jude Law is a popular pick, but I’m not sure his personality is overt enough for the role. I guess he could make it overt though, I mean, he is a professional actor.

The moral of the story is, I have no idea who the next Bond will be.

I like your breakdown and final conclusion. 😉 I don’t buy Colin Farell as a fancy tuxedo spy type of guy. Speaking of that though, what about Clive Owen? He might make an interesting James Bond.

Clive Owen would be an awesome James Bond – I would even see the movie!
    Clive! Clive! Clive! Clive!

There’s a report on IGN today that Heath Ledger will be the next James Bond. I think that’s far from official, but if so, the bookies win again!

  • April 9, 2004 at 9:23 pm

GAH! Not him either! dang it… I would have to start watching Bond movies… :((

  • April 9, 2004 at 9:23 pm

I don’t think he would be a good one. I think it should be Clive. Someone make it so.

  • April 9, 2004 at 9:24 pm

Clive! Doesn’t anyone on the Bond production team look at this board and do what we say?
