Van Helsing
Hugh Jackman runs around Prague, er Transylvania, hunting Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolf Man.
I thought it was horrible! Dracula’s wives were beyond annoying. One of them said, “Too bad, so sad” which made me say, “Did she really just say ‘too bad, so sad’?” There were too many lines where I asked if they seriously just said what they just said.
Other times, I would say “Oh god, really?” Ugggg. I heard this movie had bad reviews, but I thought it would be a fun action movie. I didn’t expect it to be beyond dumb.
I only liked the friar and Frankenstein. Oh and the DVD had bloopers. Those were amusing. Much better than the actual movie. Finally, I was very happy when the drama queen wives of Dracula were killed. Too bad it didn’t happen sooner.
Rating: D
So, I left work early to go see this and had popcorn and a cherry coke – this is an awesome way to start the weekend.
Action packed film with not enough of Hugh’s arms for Iam.
Some funny lines, but not a ton. Actually not a lot of talking in general, the accents seemed a little odd.
The lady vampires are really nasty when they are in flying form, the skin was gross!
There is a cow scene that I liked. I don’t want to spoil it so I won’t say more.
Kate’s waist seemed freakishly small to me, but she does wear a corset so I guess that’s a reason. I think she should have stabbed more stuff with her sword or had a magical power or something.
also I got cold so I had to pull my arms inside my shirt – so take a sweater when you go!
Excellent fun movie. Like Aimi said, very action packed. It only dragged in a few places. However, I am happy with any amount of naked Hugh that I can get, and there was a couple good (although short) shots of him.
Gabriel Van Helsing works for a secret department of the church that hunts “evil.” So he hunts Mr. Hyde, Frankenstein, Werewolves and of course Dracula. IHe discovers a Dracula’s secret plan and in the mean time has to save Anna (a gypsy girl whose family has sworn to kill Dracula.)
The thick “transylvanian” accent on Count Dracula was a bit cheesy. There were several things that I found myself comparing to other movies. Gabriel is missing some memories – hello Wolverine. He has a guy that puts together his weapons of mass distruction – James Bond. I know there were a couple others but I can’t remember them now. I think his side-kick’s name was Carl, he added some good humor to the movie. (“But your a monk” – “actually I am a friar.”) Also in usual Hugh style he adds his snide comments as well.
Good show.
LamW – 1 (I said it dragged a little)
