Blindsighted (Grant County #1)
It was interesting to go back and read Karin Slaughter’s debut novel after reading a few other more recent books by her. I could tell this was a first novel since the plot twists were a little more obvious than I have read in her other books, but the good character development was there from the beginning.

I was introduced somewhat to Chief Jeffrey Tolliver and Dr. Sara Linton in the Will Trent series, so it was interesting to read about them from the beginning after knowing somewhat what happened to them down the line. I liked getting to know Det. Lena Adams, even though she is a bit of a hard-ass. I liked her character, but I’m not sure I would like her as a person.
Not surprisingly, the case they were solving was violent and graphic. It had personal connections that I am not always a fan of in detective series, but it did lay the groundwork for the series. I had a couple of guesses on who I thought might be the killer, and one of them ended up being correct. Even though most of the book is about the case, it was getting to know all these characters that really kept me hooked.
