Fall 2017 TV: Gritty Dramas

Fall 2017 TV: Gritty Dramas - The Deuce, Law and Order True Crime, Liar, Ten Days in the Valley, Mindhunter

If you are a fan of The Wire and David Simon, then you should be a fan of The Deuce that examines the porn and prostitution of 1970s Times Square. Law & Order: True Crime is hoping that it can get similar acclaim that American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson did with its take on the Menendez brothers trial. Liar alternates viewpoints from a woman and a man on a good date gone bad. It is also only six episodes so it will wrap up quickly. David Fincher directed a good portion of the episodes for Mindhunter and some are calling it cerebral like Hannibal. Ten Days in the Valley looks a bit generic, but I do like KyraSedgwick and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje so I’ll probably check it out.

You do! She’s one of the producers in The Deuce as well. First episode is already available on HBO.
