2016 TV Fall Preview: Reboots


Wow! There are a lot of reboots happening this fall even though most of them in the past have failed, the few that have been successful seem to encourage Hollywood to make more.

Lethal Weapon


Premieres: Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 8 PM on FOX

Cast: Damon Wayans, Sr., Clayne Crawford, Jordana Brewster, Kevin Rahm, Keesha Sharp

Based on the Lethal Weapon films where one older cop is trying to lower the stress level in his life is paired with a younger cop with no regard for his own life.



Premieres: Friday, September 23, 2016 at 8 PM on CBS

Cast: Lucas Till, George Eads

Creator: Peter M. Lenkov, Lee David Zlotoff

Reboot following a young MacGyver starts an organization to prevent disasters from happening.


The Exorcist


Premieres: Friday, September 23, 2016 at 9 PM on FOX

Cast: Geena Davis, Alfonso Herrera, Ben Daniels, Brianne Howey, Hannah Kasulka, Alan Ruck, Kurt Egyiawan

Creator: Jeremy Slater

Follows the same priest from the film and the 1971 William Blatty novel but the family is different.



Premieres: Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 9 PM on HBO

Cast: Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden

Creator: Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy Nolan

Inspired by the 1973 film that is based on a Michael Crichton book about a futuristic theme park populated by lifelike robots.



Premieres: Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 9 PM on The CW

Cast: Peyton List, Riley Smith, Mekhi Phifer, Lenny Jacobson, Anthony Ruivivar, Devin Kelley, Daniel Bonjour

Based on the 2000 movie, a detective in 2016 discovers she can talk to her father who died in 1996 via a ham radio. They work together to solve a cold case that has a butterfly effect on the present day.


Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life


Premieres: Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 12 AM on Netflix

Cast: Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Keiko Agena, Kelly Bishop, Matt Czuchry, Sean Gunn, Scott Patterson, Milo Ventimiglia
