Keanu is an odd movie. It has some chuckles throughout and some bits that I liked more than others. It also has a weird pacing to it that I think stopped me from liking this movie more than I wanted to. There were parts that I did really like and will watch this movie again just to see those bits, but there were some moments that fell flat.

The movie starts with Rell (Jordan Peele) having a rough time after a girlfriend left him. Then, a kitten shows up at his door and everything turns around. He names the cat, Keanu. A few days after getting Keanu, he finds his apartment broken into and the kitten gone. Most people, including his friend Clarence (Keegan-Michael Key), believe that Keanu ran away, but Rell believes that the people meant to break into the drug dealer that lives across the way (played hilariously by Will Forte) and took the kitten in the process. Through some very random events, the two guys pose as gangsters and then as some famous assassin gangsters in order to rescue the kitten that now belongs to some bad guys.

Throughout, it does feel very much like this is coming from two people that are used to doing short sketches because there were problems filling out the entire plot for a movie. It didn’t always flow from scene to scene and seemed disjointed in general. That being said, it is an easy enough movie to rewatch and fully pay attention to the parts that you enjoyed the first time around. Personally, I loved the running George Michael gag that went throughout the entire movie. Also, the kitten was super adorable. I loved it every time it meowed. It is worth seeing it for that.
