The two big action movies coming out this holiday season feature major battles leading up to all out war. They might try to make you think a little bit before they start beating the crap out of each other though.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1
Release Date: November 21, 2014
Cast: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone
Director: Francis Lawrence
After destroying the Hunger Games and living in District 13, Katniss discovers Peeta is still alive and hatches a plan to save him and her world.
My Take: I’ve read the books and enjoyed the first two so, of course, I’ll keep watching. I know the movie studios want to make more money so they love to split up the third book in a series into two movies. It made sense for Harry Potter since that last book was huge. In this case, it really isn’t necessary, but I’ll be watching both of them like a sucker.
Exodus: Gods and Kings
Release Date: December 12, 2014
Cast: Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, John Turturro, Aaron Paul, Ben Mendelsohn, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley
Director: Ridley Scott
Epic story about Moses rising up against the Ramses and leaving Egypt.
My take: Parts of it seems so serious, but other parts look like a good story to watch. I do like Ridley Scott so I know I’ll eventually watch it.
