Amazing Race: Slow Down Kangaroo Jack

This week’s race continued from last week where all the teams were completely exhausted after their first leg to find out that they weren’t done yet! They usually save that craziness towards the end of the race so it was a nice of them to mix things up a bit. During the leg, they got to stay in Australia, which I also enjoyed. I like it when they stay in one general area longer. They could spend half the race in Australia and be in so many different areas, but I know it won’t last. At least we got to witness the hilariousness of the teams wearing the kangaroo suits.

Googling Sounds Dirty

The leg began, or continued, with all the teams getting a clue except for the cowboys that were still working on the roadblock. Jet finally figured it out and were the only team to be excited that the leg wasn’t over when they got to Phil. The clue that Phil gave all the teams told them to head back to Sydney and find “To Sail to Stop”. They had to figure out that was an anchor at Town Hall. When they arrived they would find a sign up sheet for two charters flights heading to Broken Hill. The first six teams would be on the first charter flight and the remaining five on the second one leaving a half hour later.

Gary & Mallory and non-memorable team, Kris & Amanda both jumped into cabs hoping their cab driver would know what they were talking about, but neither cab driver knew. They had to jump out of their cabs and try to find the information elsewhere. Meanwhile, the sisters and Zev & Justin found an information center to search for the information. Justin said they were going to Google the information. Zev responded, “Googling sounds dirty.”

Around this time, the cowboys finally figured out the clue and went out on the boat to retrieve the clue on the buoy. Jet told them to “smack me right into it” so he wouldn’t miss it. The people directing it did just that. Smack into the buoy, but they got the clue.

The sisters and Zev & Justin found Town Hall first and they were both on the first charter flight. They were thrilled, but now they had to wait until 6:00 am the next day for the flight. They headed off to the airport. Meanwhile, the cheerleaders and Margie & Luke were on a ferry with a bunch of other teams when they found a woman who let them borrow her laptop for internoodle usage. They found out they needed to go to the Town Hall. We also learned that the cheerleaders really like working with Margie & Luke and Luke thinks of the cheerleaders as his “racing girlfriends.” Uh-huh, yep!

Others on the ferry, which were the Globetrotters, Goths, Ron & Christina and Mike & Mel, did not learn this information. They were too busy freaking out about Mel almost collapsing. Both Mike & Mel thought this race was harder this time than it was the first time. This is only the first leg! Mel did not look good though. He looked dehydrated and exhausted. Mike started crying because his dad looked so bad. He didn’t want to continue but after the ferry ride, Mel just moved slowly and wanted to continue the race. The Goths, Globetrotters and Mike & Mel got off the ferry and found the information they needed right in the ferry terminal so they all started heading to the Town Hall.

People that didn’t ask the correct people or Google any information would be Gary & Mallory, non-memorable team and Ron & Christina. They all found each other lost and started to ask for directions from random people. They did finally find the right information and started to head to the Town Hall. They didn’t make it in time for the first charter flight. The teams that made it on the first charter flight with the sisters and Zev & Justin were the cheerleaders, Margie & Luke, Goths and Mike & Mel. Yes, Mel who was moving super slow still beat the Globetrotters to the town hall, even though it seemed they got the information around the same time.

The Globetrotters were on the second flight with the lost teams and the cowboys. Oh the cowboys. When they got the clue from Phil, they seemed to not ask anyone that knew and never went to try to find it online. They just kept wandering and asking. The sun set on them and they still wandered. They finally found a taxi driver that knew it was the town hall and got them there. They weren’t out of the race yet and at least caught up to some other teams!

Not A Lot of Steakhouses

When the teams got off the charter flight, they got their next clue on some vehicles. They had to drive to the desert and find their next clue in The Living Desert. There was some wacky driving on the wrong side of the road for some, but no car accidents. I guess that is next week!

While driving through the Outback, Zev commented that the Outback did not have a lot of steakhouses. Margie & Luke and the sisters were the first to arrive at the cluebox and found it was a detour. The detour was two aboriginal customs. In one where they had to create a picture, based on an example, on the ground using different colored rocks. Then when they had their picture approved, they had to dance on their picture to get the next clue. The other choice was putting some paint in their mouth and then spitting it onto their hands while they created four shapes onto a stencil to create the markers.

Dancing Son of a Buck

Everyone decided to do the dancing detour. I’m guessing no one wanted to put paint in their mouth. The most disturbing part was when the Goths finished their ground mosaic that Kynt decided they needed the nearby aboriginal children to help them dance. That wasn’t even the most disturbing part. That would have been when he was yelling, “Vyxin, please get me children!” As my friend Amy said, it was disturbing on so many levels.

Other teams read their clue and figured out they had to dance on the mosaic after it was finished so they actually got their clue. When the cowboys were dancing, Jet said he was a “dancing son of a buck”, which made Cord respond with “Get on it!” It took a while for the Goths to figure out why other people were getting their clue and they weren’t. The clue told teams to head to the home of the Magpies. They had to figure out they needed to go to the Central Football Club.

Christina told her dad to speak to her in Chinese so other teams couldn’t hear. I’m not sure what good their secret Chinese language did when they were one of the last two teams at the detour, along with non-memorable team. Non-memorable team finished first, but they had to go do the other detour due to being so slow at the beginning of the race! While they completed that task fairly quickly since it was faster, but no one wanted to spit paint, Ron & Christina finished. It was difficult because Ron didn’t want to mess up his fabulous picture that he just created. Then when they did complete the dance, they had to pick up all the crap that he dropped on the ground. Does he not have a bag? Christina said he had a “freaking market” when he dumped out his pockets. That delayed them enough so they were heading to the next clue at the same time as non-memorable team.

Hopping & Science

Zev & Justin and Margie & Luke were the first teams to get to the magpies. They found out they had to dress up as kangaroos and figure out why two elements on a periodic table were highlighted. The kangaroos outfits were excellent since they had bouncy shoes on. Zev said he thought he found his Halloween costume as he was putting it on. This put Margie off balance so much she almost biffed it a few times. They found someone that let them borrow their smart phone so they could use the internoodle to look up the elements. They found out they were Mercury and Bismuth. They asked the lady if she knew what that meant. She told them they were street names so she pointed them in the direction for them to bounce to. As Amy said, they combined hopping & science!

Other teams got to the football club. The sisters ran into the men’s locker room before realizing there was a women’s locker room. The cowboys and Mel & Mike were changing. Mike said they were “always trying to get into the men’s locker room.”  The goths and cheerleaders found each other after they changed. Kynt looked at the periodic table and knew the elements immediately! When they asked him how he knew that, he said he got an A in chemistry. I did too, but I don’t remember that stuff!

The rest of the teams all grouped up together — Goths, cheerleaders, Globetrotters, cowboys, sisters and Mel & Mike. Mel was really excited about the bouncing shoes. He was taking off in them and Mike had to yell at him, “Slow down Kangaroo Jack!” They wished they could keep the shoes for the rest of the race.

The first two teams were getting closer to the streets when Margie realized her foot fell off. Oops! Well, her kangaroo foot fell off. She knew she would get penalized if she didn’t go back to get it so she went back to look for it, even though Luke wanted to keep going. He didn’t like losing the lead they had with Zev & Justin. While they went back, Zev & Justin found the clue box, which had the pit stop clue telling them to head to Junction Mine in their kangaroo suits.

They headed off to the pit stop and the big group of teams ran by the kangaroo foot. The cheerleaders and goths made a comment about it, but passed it by. Mike stopped to pick it up. When they ran into Margie & Luke, she was asking the group if they saw the foot and Mike gave it to her. She thanked them and told them where to find the streets. They all headed off to the clue box together. They all got to it around the same time and headed off to the pit stop.

She’s Hysterical

In the back of the pack was Gary & Mallory, Ron & Christina and non-memorable team. Christina wanted to work with Gary & Mallory to figure out the clue, but Mallory was being Mallory and Ron was having none of it. He told Christina that they just can’t meander and Mallory was hysterical. She might be a spaz, but her dad is MacGyver, even though he hasn’t duct taped anything together this season yet.

Non-memorable team found someone that told them to look for Mercury street. They were headed that direction when Gary & Mallory and Ron & Christina were trying to find the same streets with a map that Christina had. They did all finally find the clue box right before non-memorable team got there.

Mallory told Ron & Christina that she had a map and knew where Junction Mine was located, but Ron didn’t believe the hysterical woman so he told Christina to go in another direction. Guess what? Hysterical woman got to the pit stop before the rest of them. Ron & Christina got there second to last and non-memorable team got there in last place. They were eliminated and I can go on not remembering them.

Questions

  1. Were you glad to see non-memorable team leave or were you hoping Ron would end up in last place since he seems back to his nonsense of complaining non-stop?
  2. Were you as disturbed as us about Kynt and his yelling about bringing him children?
  3. Do you think Luke’s heart will be broken when neither of the cheerleaders want to be his girlfriend?
