MWG: Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

MWG: Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

My May Movie Pic Is……Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.

I have watched these movies with Coni for comedy entertainment  purposes.  They are so silly that they can’t be taken seriously.  Maybe we will see some floating rocks like we did in Underworld: Evolution! =)

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

A prequel to the first two Underworld films, this fantasy explains the origins of the feud between the Vampires and the Lycans. Aided by his secret love, Sonja (Rhona Mitra), courageous Lucian (Michael Sheen) leads the Lycans in battle against brutal Vampire king Viktor (Bill Nighy). Determined to break the king’s enslavement of his people, Lucian faces off against the Death Dealer army in a bid for Lycan independence.

  1. I can go ahead and give my input right away, since I saw this just a few weeks ago with Wendy in the theater – we also like to watch these awesome movies!

So in this movie, Lycans are very dirty and they live under the castle being slaves – it is so sad. Then one falls in love with a vampire princess! No idea how that happened since I could not even tell he was hot under all the dirt. Maybe vampires can see thru dirt?
Then he gets out and gets wild lycans to help him fight for FREEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM! he does not get smooshed, this is how you know better days will come for the lycans.
And I think there was some set up for the future movie plots, but I had kinda forgotten how that went. So basically, dirty people turning into dirty wolves fighting somewhat clean but living in a super dark castle vampire people who like to hiss.
    this has been my review,
    the end.

  2. I really can’t tell you what was going on in the movie since I was talking over most of the dialogue. Every once in a while, I would just start laughing at head vampire guy overacting. He would yell at some guy with a feather pen to “Make a note!” and then when he didn’t agree with someone else, he would spread his arms out while screaming, “Enough!”

My favorite actor in the movie would be helmet head. He first appeared when main vampire lady and Lucian were having an important conversation with a close up on their heads facing each other. Then, in the background, helmet head appears in the scene looking at them and then he leaves the scene. He showed up for about five seconds. There was no reason for it. He didn’t say anything. Why was he there? I said that was his big scene. Then he kept showing up after that! Well, it could have been anyone but I saw all helmet heads as the same guy. I rooted for him every time he appeared on screen. The rest of the story was just not as important.

I do have to make one mention of the not-very-sexy sex scene. Main vampire lady straddled Lucian and held him over the side of a castle with seemingly just her Kegel muscles. Very impressive.

  3. I also was amazed by the sex scene. How did she do that? And actually I found him less attractive floating in the air all happy. Moar dark brooding please.

Viktor’s eyes creeped me out. I would like eyes like that for halloween.

I liked the movie overall. I really liked Viktor. They really shouldn’t have pissed him off. It’s been a long time since I watched the other movies, but I thought they were going for a “there’s no good side” kinda thing. Is that right? Now I feel that the lycans are good and the vampires are bad. Even though Lucian is going to go all revenge crazy, the vamipres started it so sorta their fault. Good movie pick
