TAR: No Rhythm

Amazing Race
That Is Studly

Going into this leg, I am flabbergasted that Andrew and Dan are still in the race. They continuously make stupid mistakes and bicker, but manage to come in second to last place again and again. Then they lost their shoes in the last leg because they didn’t take them with them on purpose. Will they get new shoes or have to make due with nothing? Will this be the race they actually get cut or will they actually move into the final three?

The order in which teams left the pit stop:

  • Nick & Starr (siblings) – 9:21pm
  • Toni & Dallas (mom/son) – 10:47pm
  • Ken & Tina (Team S&M) -11:17pm
  • Andrew & Dan (frat guys) – 12:41am

Clue: Teams had to fly to Moscow, Russia. Once they landed, they needed to travel by taxi to a monastery and go inside to light a candle to receive their next clue.

Airport Fun Times

The siblings arrived at the airport and got on a flight that left at 6:05 am. The agent said there was nothing earlier. They had some time to kill and the other teams would most likely catch up. When Toni & Dallas arrived at the airport, Team S&M were leaving the pit stop.  Now when Toni & Dallas left the pit stop, the taxi drivers were charging them 3,000 (whatever money denomination is there) and Dallas said he would go in the cab that would drive him for 2,000 since there were about five waiting there. When Team S&m left the pit stop, they just took the taxi driver that said 3,000 so they lost some of their money when they didn’t need to, but Tina just bulldozed over Ken trying to talk to the guy saying they had to go! Toni & Dallas got on the same flight as the siblings and then there was much time for flirting between Dallas and Starr while everyone spent the night in the airport. Team S&M got on the same flight. The frat boys didn’t have their shoes on them when they left the pit stop since they were dumb and left them at one of the detours in the last leg. They had their socks and flimsy slippers on them. They got the same flight as everyone else, but after Dallas made fun of them for a while for their slippers, they went to a shoe store in the airport and wasted money on new shoes.

Moscow, Russia

The teams all came running out of the airport, but no one could find a taxi. The frat boys actually saw them in a nearby parking lot and headed over there. The frat boys were wondering if they made a bad choice with buying the shoes when they realized that the amount for the taxi ride to the monastery would take almost all of their money. The rest of the teams saw the taxis and took off. The frat boys and Team S&M had cab drivers that did not know where the monastery was located, but mom/son and the siblings arrived at the monastery.

Toni and Starr had to put scarves on their heads before entering the church. Toni & Nick lit the candles in order to get the next clue.

Clue: The teams had to make their way through the city to the outskirts of Moscow to find Kolosok Camp, a decommissioned military base, and search the grounds for their next clue.

Those two teams headed off to the military base while frat boys and Team S&M were finally back on the road after their taxi drivers found out where to go from other people. Dallas was concerned they were going to run out of money fast since it was taking so much to drive from one place to another. If they are going to run out, what are the frat boys going to do? The frat boys were the next ones to arrive at the monastery. The frat boys were leaving the building to read the clue when Team S&M were headed inside. They both got into taxis and took off. I have no idea if the frat boys have enough money to get to the next destination, but they didn’t seem to find out before getting into the cab to leave.

Kolosok Camp

Toni & Dallas arrived at Kolosok Camp first to get their next clue.

Detour: For both detours, the teams had to get dressed in military gear including traditional foot wraps. In Boots, they would be joining a training squad and learning a traditional parade march. When the teams thought they are ready, they would join the troop and march one full lap of the parade grounds. If the drill sargeant was satisifed, he would give them their next clue. In Borscht, teams had to deliver and serve 75 soldiers a bowl of borscht. Once each soldier had a serving, they would receive their next clue.

Toni & Dallas decided to do Boots and got dressed in their uniforms. The siblings were lost with their cab driver. Starr was getting very frustrated that her cab driver didn’t understand English but she didn’t understand him either! The frat boys and Team S&M arrived at the detour at the same time. The frat boys decided to go with Boots. Team S&M also decided to do Boots. They arrived at the tent to change into their uniforms with Toni & Dallas finishing up outside with the foot wraps. The siblings finally had a police officer stop to give directions to their cab driver who had been heading in the wrong direction. They were back on the road, but no idea how far away they were from the other teams.

Tina was being all modest about changing in the tent with all the boys. Ken told her they didn’t have time and to just change. Toni & Dallas started practicing their march when Team S&M and frat boys were outside getting their foot wraps on. Dan was arguing with the guy showing him how to do the foot wrap when the guy told him he was doing it wrong. Team S&M were finished first so they went over to practice while the frat boys were still trying to wrap their feet. Dan got done with the foot wraps first and then proceeded to yell at Andrew for taking so long. Dan said it was a bad decision. I’m guessing he meant the detour, but they had to get dressed for either detour so I’m not sure what he was talking about. The siblings finally arrived at the camp. Toni & Dallas finished their parade march and passed. They were able to receive their next clue.

Clue: Teams had to make their way to the town of Zhukovsky and find the Zhukovsky Bakery for their next clue.

Andrew could not get his foot wraps on right so they decided to change detours. They went back into the tent and took off their uniforms while Toni & Dallas were on their way to the next clue. The siblings decided to go with Boots. Team S&M finished and passed. They went to get their next clue. The frat boys went to the next detour. They had to wear an apron and chef hat.  They chose a field kitchen to get the borscht so they could carry it over to the hungry soldiers. The siblings got dressed and figured out the foot wraps almost immediately. While over at the other detour, Andrew was reading the clue again and said they had to put on the military uniform no matter what so they went back to the tent to change again. When they finally got dressed again and figured out the foot wraps, they decided to just do the march.

The siblings finished their march so they went off for their next clue. Andrew did fine with the marching, but Dan was horrible at it. He could not get himself coordinated. The drill sargeant would tell him he was doing it wrong, but Dan would argue with him. Oh boy. The marching band was cracking up so bad at Dan and his lack of coordination. They practiced over and over again, but Dan could not get it. I know if it was Andrew not getting it, Dan would be yelling at him nonstop to figure it out and how stupid he was for not getting it. Andrew was trying to get the other soldiers to clap in time to help Dan get the beat, but he seemed to be tone deaf so rhtythm was not his thing. They gave up on that one and went over to do the borscht.

Zhukovsky

Toni & Dallas made their way to Zhukovsky and were trying to find the bakery. Team S&M were nearby and hoping their cab driver knew where to go. The siblings were hoping their cab driver didn’t get lost a million times like he did before. Toni & Dallas found the bakery and the next clue, which was a road block.

Road block: The team member had to become a delivery person. Unload fifty 50-pound bags of flour into the bakery by placing them horizontally on the floor. The shop owner would hand them their next clue if they did it correctly.

The clue asked who had a strong back. Dallas decided to do it. The lady started yelling at him immediately since he wasn’t laying them down flat but putting them up against the wall. I found her hilarious with her yelling to read the instructions and do it correctly. Oh, I can’t wait for Dan to get there, except that Andrew will probably do the road block. Team S&M arrived when Dallas had unloaded about 12 bags. Ken decided to do it and saw how tired Dallas looked. Toni had been telling Dallas to take his time and not wear himself out, but Dallas wanted to be in first place for his mom so badly, he kept pushing himself. He had done about 30 when Ken had finished 10 bags.

Back at the detour, Dan was saying he was a stupid American that couldn’t do a military thing. I guess America doesn’t have the military. Wait, what? You just don’t have any rhythm and really can’t do much Dan. That’s the thing. They had their aprons and chef hats on while they spooned borcht into a huge pot that they carried over to the hungry soldiers who were banging their spoons on the table waiting for their food. At the road block, Ken was catching up to Dallas with 23 bags unloaded to Dallas’ 32 bags. Dallas was complaining about getting tired. Ken thought being in the NFL helped him endure and work through pain so he was just cruising. Starr was freaking out that their cab driver seemed lost again and Andrew was finally finished pouring all the bowls of borscht for the soldiers. Good thing Dan didn’t pour or else they would have it in their laps. When the frat boys got into the cab, Dan said they would not have enough money to pay. I’m not sure if they informed the driver of the situation.

Dallas finished the road block when Ken had delivered 42 bags so they were still very close. Dallas opened the clue.

Clue: Teams made their way to the pit stop in the city center at Neskuchny Sad Park.

Toni & Dallas got into a cab and made their way to the pit stop. Shortly afterwards, Ken finished and gave the big Russian lady a kiss when she handed him the clue. They were taking off in their cab when the siblings arrived at the bakery. Ken said Nick would never be able to do the task. The siblings told the cab driver they were done and no more. He was confused since he didn’t speak English so who knows if he’ll wait around or not. Nick chose to do the road block. The big Russian lady laughed when she saw Nick. After he dropped off his first two bags, she said he wasn’t fit. Nick had to switch to carrying just one bag at a time since he couldn’t do two like Dallas and Ken did. The frat boys were finally heading to the bakery when Nickfinished the task.

The siblings couldn’t find a taxi and they had sent theirs away. Uh oh! The frat boys arrived and Dan actually did it. WAT! He said he could do caveman tasks all day. While the siblings were flagging down every car they could find to see if it was a taxi, Dan was actually being positive. He said it was a great work out when he had unloaded about half the bags. Dan finished the task right when the siblings found a cab. The frat boys were off and the siblings were finding that their cab driver didn’t know where the pit stop was located so he was calling dispatch while they were standing outside the cab seeing if they could find another one. Apparently the cab driver had been calling another taxi for them so the siblings got into a new cab and took off for the pit stop.

Pit Stop

Toni & Dallas arrived at the park just before Team S&M but they were all looking for Phil and the mat. The siblings were frustrated again that they were sure their cab driver didn’t know where he was going. He said it was just a little bit further, but Starr said he had been saying that all along. The frat boys were hoping they could have the greatest comeback, but they knew they didn’t have enough to pay the taxi driver when they arrived. Toni & Dallas and Team S&M were wandering the grounds wondering if they were in the right place.  They both got directions from different people on where they needed to head and Toni & Dallas were the first ones to arrive. About time! As the winners of that leg, they won a trip to the Dominican Republic. Team S&M didn’t seem too far behind them in second place.

In the cabs, Starr was having a nervous breakdown about being lost when it didn’t seem like they were. It seemed like they were just going through traffic. Nick was telling her to calm down and really there wasn’t much she could do about it so no clue why she was spazzing so much. They did find the park and started looking to try to find Phil. The frat boys also found the park, but the cab driver did not like that they did not have enough money to pay so he wouldn’t let them leave. Give him your shoes! Haha. Dan did try to give him his shoes, but the cab driver did not want them. The siblings were still trying to find Phil. Dan finally pulled something out of his pocket and said for him to take all of their money. I’m not sure if it was money or something else, but if he had more money, why didn’t he just give it to the driver to begin with? By the time they were able to start looking around on the grounds for Phil, the siblings had found him at the mat. They were convinced they were last so they were surprised when they were team number three. A little bit later, the frat boys found Phil.  He told them that even though they were in last place, it was a non-elimination leg so they were still in the race. They would have to complete a speed bump in the next leg, which was a task that only they had to perform before rejoining the other teams in the leg. How do they continue to survive? It is unbelievable!

Here is the order the teams arrived at the pit stop:

  1. Toni & Dallas (mom/son)
  2. Ken & Tina (Team S&M)
  3. Nick & Starr (siblings)
  4. Andrew & Dan (frat guys)

Questions

  1. Will Andrew and Dan actually make it through the next leg with the Speed Bump or will their luck finally run out?
  2. Who do you think will make the final three?
  3. Who are you rooting to win it all and who do you hope goes home in the next leg?
