Death Race

Trailer
Synopsis: In order to go even more extreme with reality television, there is a racing competition inside a jail with the prisoners.
While the movie was over the top, predictable, and filled with bad acting, it was still a fun time. A lot of what saved the movie was Jason Statham. He can actually act and looks sexy whether he’s dirty or clean or even wearing clothes. I preferred the scenes where he was wearing less clothing.
The plot is ridiculous, but it is just to lead to crazy racing and a lot of deaths! I guess it lived up to its title. There were some good actors in it acting horribly though. Both Joan Allen and Ian McShane were overacting like crazy. I didn’t think Ian McShane could overact with how his character was in Deadwood, but I’m guessing the direction on that show was a tad better than this one.
There were moments where I was rolling my eyes and the plot points were completely obvious that I had no idea why they stopped to explain them, but I am guessing this was all to help the inebriated people that would probably be watching it.
Grade: B-
I really didn’t think I was going to like this movie when it was first selected. Although the plot was predictable we also had the help of Marci reviewing the plot points with us during the movie.
I was entertained through the whole movie but I can’t really say it was the movie. I think it was the comments by Coni and Marci that made the movie great. I would recommend seeing this movie with friends and a few drinks would not hurt.
Wendy and I went to this movie looking for some excitement on a Saturday night and it did not disappoint! I loved all the crazy cars and the racing and hot men – I agree with Coni, less clothes on hot guys would have made this movie even better! It was kinda a let down to get back in my car to go home, because I don’t have any guns on my car, yet!
