Synopsis: The other show that is like Sex and the City, but it is the one that comes from the follow-up book of the same name by Candace Bushell, who is the writer of the book that inspired Sex and the City.
This show tackles similar issues that Cashmere Mafia with one of them having an affair and another one has mother-and-successful career issues, but it does it in a more interesting way. That isn’t to say it is without its flaws. For one, the fashion designer character is completely useless. She is a mess who cries at the drop of a hat and then is wooed by a completely uninteresting millionaire played by Andrew McCarthy, which is quite disappointing. They are both stupid and annoying.
I liked Brooke Shields character at home with her husband and family. She is believable there, but not so much at work where she is a high-powered movie executive. She tries to be a hard-edged bitch, but it doesn’t work. The only one who seems to work as believable is Kim Raver. At home, at work, and in her affair, she is the most interesting to watch. I really like her. It also doesn’t hurt that the young guy she is having an affair with is very sexy and cute.
While the female relationships are similar to Sex and the City, but what I really miss about the show all these current shows are stealing from is how funny it was. It had serious issues mixed in with a lot of really funny situations and dialogue. I miss that and was hoping this would be the most appropriate one to incorporate that into it.
