Once

Once

Directed: John Carney
Starring: Glen Hansard, Marketa Irglova

In Dublin, a musician meets a woman who is having marriage troubles. They spend the week writing songs and falling in love.

This is a movie for music lovers. If are the kind of person that fast forwards past scenes in tv and movies where there is just music with no dialogue, then this is not the movie for you. There are scenes where it is just an entire song being sung by the characters. It is beautiful music and fits the story, but I can see how it would bug someone with ADD. I loved it. I thought the music was great and filled with so much emotion.

The guy is a street performer with a broken heart who meets a girl selling flowers in a shopping district who is caught off guard by his own music he plays late at night. He inspires her to record while she plays piano and some of her own stuff. They are very sweet together and it is a love story, but not a conventional one. They both have other things going on with their lives that keep them from getting together, but the time they spend together creating music is special.
