What I’ll Be Watching
The only new show that looks good to me is Reaper. That show looks really funny so I’ll be checking it out. I’ll also continue to watch NCIS, House and L&O: SVU. I only watched half of Nip/Tuck last season, but I’m intrigued enough with their move to L.A. that I’ll see if I like this new season when it starts up later on in October.
What new shows look good to you? What returning shows will you continue watching? Any shows you giving up on?

Synopsis: It is the cavemen from the Geico ads, but this isn’t a show by Geico. They are three cavemen trying to get by in a world that thinks they don’t fit in since they are Cro-Magnon.
Buzz: Critics that watched the original pilot said it was pretty lame, especially with the entire stereotyping thing that is beat into everyone’s heads over and over again. The pilot was reshot, but producers claim it was because the original was too confusing. Some critics say it is better than they expected, but their expectations were set so low that isn’t really saying much.
My Take: I never found the cavemen Geico commercials funny. I thought they were annoying and changed the channel when they were on. Why would I want to watch a show with the same annoying characters?
Synopsis: Four guys carpool at work and share all their work and life stresses with each other.
Buzz: Nothing truly horrible about it, but it doesn’t really stand out either. It is same territory that has been covered before when guys get together to complain about their wives, families and work. The guys are also not very likeable or sympathetic. The only bright point is Fred Goss and his wife, Faith Ford.
My Take: I liked Fred Goss in his short-lived sitcom Sons & Daughters, but that isn’t enough reason to watch the show. I like Jerry O’Connell, but he made me cringe when trying to be a ladies man. He can’t pull it off. He’s too much of a nice guy. I’ll be skipping this one.
Synopsis: A guy finds out on his 21st birthday that his parents sold his soul to the devil before he was born. Satan shows up and wants him to be a bounty hunter for him to get escaped souls back to hell. His slacker buddy thinks this is the coolest thing to happen to him so he helps.
Buzz: Critics love it and compare it to Chuck with its same sense of goofy humor. They love Sam, as a slacker guy who is trying to figure out what to do with his life, as well as his equally slacker friend Sock (Invasion), who make a nice buddy comedy. Everyone really loves Ray Wise as the devil. He’s perfect for the role. Kevin Smith directed the first episode and might be back to direct more later.
My Take: The humor reminds me of the Buffy/Angel humor along with some action thrown in. Ray Wise is not creepy like he was in Twin Peaks, but he does have the perfect evil grin. He was cracking me up each time I saw him in the trailer. I’m looking forward to this show.
Synopsis: The patriarch of a rum and sugar business decides to pass the business down to his adopted son who is married to his daughter and not his own son, which creates a lot of tension amongst this big family drama.
Buzz: Critics love the cast, but some found too many stories crammed into the pilot. Others found certain plotlines very generic and soap opera-ish. The show has potential if it focuses on Jimmy Smits’ character and his immediate family.
My Take: I love family dramas and I like a lot of people in this show, but it just looks so boring.
Last Season: Nate asked his fellow contestants to not vote for him and his girl since he didn’t think she had learned anything from the show, so Megan and Scooter wont the $250,000 prize.
This Season: The twist this season is one beauty will be a hot guy and one geek will be a girl. There will also be real chemistry between some of the beauties and geeks, like there has been every season. This show has better results with real-life matches than The Bachelor.
Last Season: There was one contestant from each state of the U.S. They also had "At Home" dieters and a new trainer Kim Lyons.
This Season: Caroline Rhea is gone and new host is Alison Sweeney. The dieters will not be living in a mansion, but a college dorm. Eighteen people are dropped off in the desert and split into the usual red and blue teams. What they don’t know is that there is a secret third team that will be competing against them too.
Premieres: Tuesday, September 25
Cast: Joey Fatone
Last Season: It is karaoke where the music suddenly stops and people have to know the next line in the song to continue.
This Season: Musical guests will be on the show along with more theme nights.
Last Season: Bones’ dad shows up and is arrested for murder. Angela and Jack get married, but then it is discovered she is still married to someone else. oops!
This Season: There will be a season-long hunt for a serial killer. The search for Angela’s husband is on and he might be joining the cast after he’s found. Bones’ dad is going to be back again too.
Premieres: September 25
Cast: Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, David McCallum, Pauley Perrette, Sean Murray, Lauren Holly, Cote de Pablo
Last Season: Director Jenny Shepard was hell bent on figuring out the mysterious death of her father, if he is really dead. DiNozzo kept his girlfriend Jeanne a secret, but was that because he was finally in a serious relationship or was he just using her to get closer to her arms dealer father? Gibbs finally started getting serious with his lady friend, Lt. Col. Hollis Mann.
This Season: Everyone finally gets to meet one of Gibbs’ ex-wives. There will also be more opening up of Gibbs’ mysterious past along with Ducky’s too.
Last Season: Foreman left for a job at another hospital. House became angry and fired Chase in retaliation. Cameron became angry at that and quit too, leaving House without a team.
This Season: Cameron is working in the ER and Chase is in surgery. Foreman is still at his other hospital. House is trying to build a new team, but he’s making 40 hopeful doctors go through a competition and votes someone out to whittle it down to his final three choices. He won’t have his final new team until midseason so he’ll be able to torture his new doctors for a while.

Cast: Dennis Haysbert, Regina Taylor, Scott Foley, Robert Patrick, Audrey Marie Anderson, Max Martini, Abby Brammell, Michael Irby, Demore Barnes
Last Season: The unit ended up disbanded when the CIA tried to charge them for crimes they claim they committed. Jonas went underground. Bob was blackmailed in order to save himself and was ordered to find him.
This Season: Jonas tries to find out who is behind dismantling the unit while he’s still hiding. Mack and Hector are in a very nasty prison.
Last Season: Almost everyone is gone in a major cast upheaval, leaving pretty much only Spader, Shatner and Bergen.
This Season: John Larroquette joins the law firm as someone that Denny Crane really doesn’t like. There are also two new pretty young things that will last a couple of seasons and disappear like the rest.
