The Class will now follow How I Met Your Mother at 8:30/7:30c so it has a solid lead-in instead of starting off the night with a new comedy. It’ll be sandwiched in between Mother and Two and a Half Men. CBS is supporting this new show, unlike Smith.
Starting on October 23, Justice will air after Prison Break at 9/8c. This moves Vanished to Friday nights starting on October 27. Looks like FOX puts more into Justice being a long-time runner and giving it a chance with a better matched-up show and showing Vanished off into the oblivion of Friday nights. As previously announced, starting October 31, House will go back to 9/8c and Standoff will lead off the night at 8/7c. How long will Standoff last in that position against Dancing with the Stars and NCIS? I vote Standoff and Vanished to be canceled before November sweeps ends, probably sooner for Vanished.
Starting October 15, CW swaps its shows on Sunday and Monday nights. This moves 7th Heaven and Runaway to Sunday nights, most likely due to the very low ratings for 7th Heaven (especially after its uptick in the ratings last season). It shouldn’t fare much better against Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Runaway has the worst ratings of any show currently on the air, so it shouldn’t get any better going up against Desperate Housewives. This also means that CW now has Monday-night comedies (Everybody Hates Chris, Girlfriends) like UPN did, but they will be competing with CBS’ Monday night comedies. This move might help CW on Monday nights, but will probably kill whatever is on Sunday nights.
