Will Ferrell does not exactly fit in with the rest of the normal-sized elves at the North Pole. He is sent to New York to reunite with his biological father.

I was disappointed with this movie. I knew it was a kid’s movie, but I thought it would be more entertaining and funny. It had all the makings of being funny, but in all the spots that should have been funny, itĀ fell flat.

There were times when I thought it was overly cutesy and condescending towards kids. A kid’s movie doesn’t need to be dumbed down for them to understand it. When Zooey Deschanel started singing at the end of the movie, I couldn’t stop the eye rolling.

The only person I liked in the movie was James Caan. I thought he did a good job as a guy trying to get rid of the freak elf guy who claims he is his son. There were times that Will Ferrell made me laugh, like when he bought his dad lingerie and ran around in the revolving doors, but when he kept getting excited about Santa coming or eating syrup on spaghetti, I just though “ehhhhh.”
