Author: Chuck Palahniuk
Medical school dropout, Victor Mancini, has to come up with a way to pay for his mother’s elder care. He pretends to choke on pieces of food in upscale restaurants. When someone saves him, they feel responsible for his life and end up sending him checks to support him. When he isn’t doing that, he’s picking up women at sexual addiction recovery workshops and working at a colonial theme park.
I loved this book. It is the first thing I ever read by Chuck Palahniuk. It is extremely funny in a sick and twisted sort of way. It’s gross and explicit. The main character isn’t someone I would like if I met him in person, but I found it entertaining to read about his adventures, especially when things do not go his way.
